For Rovero, what makes a garment truly unique isn’t just the quality of the fiber, it’s also the structure of the stitches, which give volume, lightness, and that irresistible feeling of enveloping softness.

The difference between full English rib and half English rib

The English rib has always been a symbol of elasticity and breathability. Its distinctive construction creates a soft, three-dimensional knit that traps air, offering warmth without weight. Made by working elongated stitches that interlace across several rows, it results in deep, plush ribbing.

The half English rib, on the other hand, is a lighter, simpler variation that uses less yarn, keeping the garment airy. It’s made by alternating a standard knit stitch with a knit stitch worked into the row below.

The key difference? In full English rib, the front and back of the garment look identical, while in half English rib, the two sides appear different.

Diamonds, the challenge of continuity

Creating an unbroken diamond pattern is one of the toughest tests in machine knitting.

The challenge lies in designing a flawless, harmonious geometry that runs seamlessly across the entire surface of the garment. In our workshops, we embraced this challenge precisely to highlight the beauty of cashmere.

The pattern emerges from alternating knit and purl stitches, forming a subtle diagonal motif.

Cables: our signature touch

And then, the classic cable, a timeless knitwear icon.

At Rovero, we give it a distinctive twist: the cables are worked in smooth stockinette stitch, while the separating ribs are in reverse, so the braided design stands out boldly.

The effect is achieved by crossing groups of stitches, shifting them onto a cable needle, and intertwining them to create that sculptural, woven look.
