The art of stitches

Where cashmere meets craftsmanship

Every Rovero garment is born from artisanal know-how that blends aesthetics and technique, combining the finest cashmere with an in-depth study of knitting stitches.

For Rovero, what makes a garment truly unique is not only the quality of the fiber, but also the structure of the stitches , which give volume, lightness and that irresistible sensation of enveloping softness.

The difference between full English stitch and half English stitch

The English stitch has always been a symbol of elasticity and breathability. Its distinctive construction creates a soft, three-dimensional knit that traps air, offering warmth without weight. It is achieved by working elongated stitches that are woven across multiple rows, creating deep, soft ribbing.

The half English stitch (also called mock English rib) is a lighter and simpler variant, which uses less yarn and keeps the garment airy: it is made by alternating a “normal” knit stitch with a knit stitch slipped onto the needle underneath.

The key difference? In the full English stitch, the right and wrong sides of the garment are identical; in the half English stitch, however, the two sides appear different.

Rhombi, the challenge of continuity

Creating a seamless diamond pattern is one of the most challenging tasks in machine knitting. The challenge lies in creating a fluid and harmonious geometry that runs uniformly across the entire surface of the garment. In our workshops, we've taken on this challenge precisely to enhance the beauty of cashmere. The pattern is created by alternating knit and purl stitches, creating a subtle diagonal design.

Braids: our signature touch

And then there's the classic cable, a timeless icon of knitwear. At Rovero, we give it our own twist: the cables are worked in plain knit, while the separating ribs are in purl knit, so the weave stands out boldly.

The effect is achieved by crossing groups of stitches, moving them onto a cable needle, and weaving them together to create that sculpted, woven look.
